The t.bone HD 150 closed over-ear headphones are a cost-effective choice for drummers who play an electronic drumkit. Their strengths include a wide frequency range, distortion-free reproduction at high volumes, and an extremely comfortable fit. The headphones are made almost entirely of synthetic materials, and the design is disarmingly simple, but their size can nevertheless be individually and minutely adjusted, in addition to which they are even equipped with separate folding ear cups. A 3m cable with gold-plated contacts to protect against corrosion and a threaded adapter for connection to a 6.3mm jack socket are included as standard.
The ear cups of the t.bone HD 150 feature 45mm drivers that reproduce audio in a frequency range between 10Hz and 26kHz. This enables the headphones to cleanly reproduce not only clear trebles but also deep bass, which is a must when monitoring drums. The extent to which external noise is kept out and the sounds produced are kept in – attenuation and isolation – is genuinely excellent, especially considering the headphones' lightweight construction and the low price. The HD 150s have a low impedance of 32 ohms, which means that they produce plenty of volume even when used with mobile devices or low-output headphone amps.
With their broad frequency range and deep bass response, drummers are not the only ones who will love the t.bone HD 150: DJs will also find that Thomann's own-brand headphones allow them to get to work on the turntables without breaking the bank, since their excellent audio response is matched by their remarkably easy handling. The fully adjustable headband and the flexible suspension of the ear cups ensure that the HD 150s will adapt perfectly to the shape of their user's head, while their light weight, nicely balanced contact pressure, and soft leatherette ear pads also make them very comfortable to wear.
Since 1994, the t.bone has been one of Thomann's in-house brands, and its name can be found on devices such as headphones, wireless systems, in-ear equipment, and various microphones and matching accessories. "the t.bone" products are made exclusively by renowned companies who also manufacture products for other well-known brands. This provides a clear advantage: Brand-quality products at very reasonable prices. And word gets around: One in seven Thomann customers has already bought at least one product from the t.bone.
In terms of sound quality, the t.bone HD 150 has more to offer than many other closed over-ear headphones in this price range, with good bass and treble response. The frequency ranges that are important for the reproduction of vocals and Rock guitars are particularly well represented, with little overlap with other frequencies, making it easier for drummers to stay in tune with the rest of the band. The HD 150s reproduce low frequencies without distortion even at high volumes, the transients are always accurate, and they also offer reliable stereo staging and depth.
